Description of Work: The successful bidder will be required provide all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, insurance, and services associated with the Broida Hall Room 1251 Lab Renovation project described in the Construction Documents including, but not limited to, the following: selective architectural, mechanical, and electrical demolition of the existing space to prepare for the renovations. Structural and architectural work includes aluminum framing and new floor construction in the main lab to maintain a constant elevation in the lab area. Construction includes a double walled acoustic isolation room placed on a new concrete isolation block, including a cast-in-place concrete lid.

Work also includes sound rated doors and frames, finishes and painting, acoustic insulation, modifications to the main building HVAC system to support the 3 new lab spaces created in the area of Room 1251, along with a new fan-coil unit and exhaust fan. New lighting is to be installed in all 3 rooms, along with minor modifications to the fire alarm system, and extension of the building telecomm and data network, and the provision of a new accessible lab cabinet and sink.

License Requirement: B- (General Building Contractor)

Estimated Construction Cost: $1,432,363

General Information: The successful Bidder and its Subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the Work. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a Bid for this project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations (“DIR”) pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)]. This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations.
