Description of Work: The successful bidder will be required provide all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, insurance, and services associated with the Bio II Seawater Laboratory, Room 1139 project described in the Construction Documents including, but not limited to, the following: Construct interior improvements within the existing Biological Sciences II building ground floor to construct a complete, functional and habitable environment for research. Improvements to the interior include construction of wet labs with corrosion resistant finishes, dry lab spaces, and offices, building corridor improvements, environmental chambers and a fume hood as well as infrastructure for future University-provided equipment. The work includes all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing connections within the existing building infrastructure including work in building shafts and basement. Replacement and modification of buildings life safety mass notification and fire sprinklers within the space.
Estimated Construction Cost: $1,494,000
License Requirement: B- (General Building Contractor)
General Information: The successful Bidder and its Subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the Work. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons shall have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University’s policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy.
The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a Bid for this project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations (“DIR”) pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)]. This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations.
