Description of Work: Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, tools, transportation, insurance, services and specified materials to demolish and refurbish a 10,000 sf, 30-space existing parking lot adjacent to outdoor classroom and North Campus Open Space. Other work includes adding a parallel DG Trail, post and cable fence between Whittier open space areas and the sidewalk and entry trail, a wider point of entry to parking lot for safer entering and existing, drainage bioswales, signage and automatic gate. In addition, the project will include grading to support outdoor educational programming with level meeting areas, planting mounds to provide windbreaks and interpretive opportunities adjacent to the Roost building.

Pre-Bid Conference: A mandatory Pre-Bid Conference and mandatory Pre-Bid Job Walk will be conducted by the University. Only bidders who participate in the initial (virtual or in-person) pre-bid conference, will be allowed to bid on the Project as a prime bidder. Only attendees as the original pre-bid conference will be permitted to schedule a subsequent site visit with the University Representative.

Bid Security: Bid Security in the amount of 10% of the Lump Sum Base Bid shall accompany each Bid. The Surety issuing the Bid Bond shall be, on the Bid Deadline, an admitted surety insurer (as defined in California Code of Civil Procedure Section 995.120).

General Project Information: Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons shall have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University’s policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a Bid for this project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)]. The successful Bidder and its Subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Construction Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the Work.
