Description of Work: Provide all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, insurance and services to combine the heating hot water (HHW) systems of the Chemistry and Physical Science building north (PSBN) into one central heating system, which will be located in the PSBN penthouse. The scope includes demolishing the existing hot water (HW) boiler at Chemistry and HW boiler at PSBN and providing a new condensing boiler and a heat-recovery chiller (HRC) to serve the peak heating load. The HRC, in addition to serving the Chemistry-PSBN base heating load, will supplement the campus chilled water (CHW) system, as described in the Construction Documents. In order to accommodate the new load, the distribution pumps for both the HHW system and CHW system, the HHWS/R piping infrastructure and expansion tank will be replaced.

License Requirement(s): B- (General Building) and C-4 (Boiler, Hot Water Heating and Steam Fitting)

Estimated Construction Cost: $1,500,000

General Information: It is the sole responsibility of prime contractors to register at in order to be able to receive and view project updates, addenda, and full versions of the construction documents. The prime contractors are responsible to update their user profile on the University’s planroom site, in order to receive ongoing project updates and notifications.

The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a Bid for this project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations (“DIR”) pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)].
