Description: California, Santa Barbara (“University”) from design professionals and firms with relevant experience and expertise in providing detailed project programming, cost planning/budgeting, full design services, preparation of bidding documents and construction administration services for the construction of the Associated Students Bike Shop project (“Project”) on the main campus of UC Santa Barbara, as more fully described in Request for Qualifications (“RFQ”) No. FM200242.

Serving the UC Santa Barbara and Isla Vista community since 1974, the Associated Students Bike Shop is a student-funded, non-profit organization that provides free or subsidized bicycle repair, parts and education. It offers the most competitive pricing in the region. Lead by a passionate team, the Bike Shop serves an average of 4,400 students, faculty, and staff each quarter with repairs and resources. Its mechanics are trained to work on bikes of all ages and from all over the world.

Currently located near Campus Pools and Parking Lot 29, the Bike Shop was considered temporary when it was constructed in 2010. The Bike Shop is a modular prefabricated structure and it is situated on a future development site. Associated Students seeks a long term permanent location for the Bike Shop. The project will confirm the proposed program of approximately 2,000 assignable square foot, study a number of potential sites for site selection, and confirm the feasibility of the budget.

Estimated Construction Cost: Approximately $2,000,000.

Instructions for Applicants: Qualified professionals and firms possessing relevant experience in the planning and design of retail and workshop spaces and providing services for projects similar in scale, size and scope are encouraged to respond to this RFQ.

SOQ Deadline: Interested firms shall provide eight (8) bound copies and one (1) digital copy (.pdf) of its SOQ submittal, as outlined in section III.B of the RFQ. All documents must be received at the address below no later than 4:00 p.m. on December 9, 2019.
