SHORTLIST – The University Screening Committee has selected the following firms, in no particular order, for further consideration in the qualifications-based selection process: (1) Blackbird Architects (Santa Barbara, CA); (2) HED (San Diego, CA); (3) M. Arthur Gensler & Associates (San Diego, CA); (4) The Miller Hull Partnership (San Diego, CA); and (5) Page and Turnbull (Los Angeles, CA).

Project Description: Statements of Qualifications submittals are hereby solicited by the University of California, Santa Barbara (“University”) from qualified professionals and firms possessing relevant experience and expertise in providing building assessments, detailed project programming, cost planning/budgeting, and other pre-design services. The successful consultant shall provide services for the Marine Biotechnology Lab Building Assessment, Bldg. 555 (the “Project”) on the main campus of UC Santa Barbara, as more fully described in Request for Qualifications (“RFQ”) No. FM200424.

The Marine Biotechnology Lab Building was constructed in two phases – in 1961 and 1985 – and has had minimal upgrades in the last 50 years. The building contains laboratories, offices, and classrooms. Many of the primary components of the building are at the end of expected service life. The Project will assess and document the existing condition of the building. Deliverables will include a Detailed Project Program and cost estimating for replacement and/or enhancement of building systems and components.

Instructions for Applicants: Qualified consultants and firms possessing relevant experience and providing similar services for projects similar in scale, size and scope are encouraged to respond to this RFQ.
