Description of Work: Contactor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, tools transportation, insurance and services to replace and modernize three (3) library elevator systems, including but not limited to controllers, motors, and cab interiors. New gearless traction mechanical equipment shall be coordinated with joint support for the University’s interface with electrical, electronic access, fire life safety, and the associated testing. Overtime and/or weekend hours will be required for the hall station replacements and other key elements when elevators will be out of service. Structural review and peer review for those elevator elements noted and cooperation with inspector of record is required for all phases of construction. The Library Building 525 is located near the center of the main campus of the University of California, Santa Barbara (“University”). Services shall Penthouse elevator room equipment crane pick locations and strict hours shall be observed with University coordination.

Estimated Construction Cost: $1,200,000

Pre-Bid Conference: A 2nd mandatory Pre-Bid Conference and mandatory Pre-Bid Job Walk will be conducted EITHER in person or electronically via Zoom on May 21, 2020 beginning promptly at 1:30 PM.

Meeting attendees may attend remotely via Zoom, if desired. A subsequent, in-person job walk may be scheduled with the University Representative, upon request. Further details will be provided to contractors interested in attending the mandatory pre-bid conference via Zoom.

Only bidders who participate in both the Conference and a Job Walk, will be allowed to bid on the Project as prime contractors.

The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a Bid for this project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)].

The successful Bidder and its Subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Construction Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the Work.
