Description of Work: Contactor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, insurance, and services to perform an elevator modernization project supporting three (3) hydraulic elevators supporting classroom and faculty office access in the Ellison Hall Building 563 on the main campus of the University of California, Santa Barbara. The project scope shall include, but not limited to, all engineering, equipment, labor, warranty, and all required staging, hoisting and movement to, on, and from the site including new equipment, reused equipment, or dismantling and removal of existing equipment, and include scaffolding to change feed line Victaulic gaskets, the provision of temporary power cable from machine room or temporary power as required for all phases of equipment replacement, as specified in the Construction Documents.

Pre-Bid Conference: A mandatory Pre-Bid Conference and mandatory Pre-Bid Job Walk will be conducted EITHER in person or electronically via Zoom. Participants shall meet either:

Meeting attendees may attend the pre-bid conference and job walk remotely via Zoom, if desired. The Zoom meeting will include a virtual job walk presented by the University staff. A subsequent, in-person job walk may be scheduled with the University Representative, upon request. Further details will be provided to contractors interested in attending the mandatory pre-bid conference via Zoom.

Only bidders who participate in both the Conference and initial (virtual or in-person) Job Walk, will be allowed to bid on the Project as prime contractors. Only attendees as the original job walk will be permitted to schedule a subsequent site visit with the project manager.

The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a Bid for this project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)].

The successful Bidder and its Subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Construction Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the Work.
