Description of Work: Briefly and without force and effect upon the Contract Documents, the Work of the Contract can be summarized as follows: Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, tools, transportation, insurance, and services, and specified materials to replace the air handling equipment in UCSB’s Buchanan Hall building. New air handling equipment will include: (2) custom-built air handlers (University-Furnished/Contractor-Installed), (2) standalone returns fans, and (2) exhaust fans for installation in the building’s (2) second-floor mechanical spaces. Base bid includes all low-voltage electrical conduit and cabling necessary to facilitate replacement of related existing air handling pneumatic controls with 100% DDC hardware for integration with the present campus building automation system, as specified in the Construction Documents. A bid alternate(s) will be used for scope identified in Division 1 Section 01 23 00 Alternates.

Estimated Construction Cost: $1,350,000

License Requirement(s): B- (General Building) AND C-20 (Warm-Air Heating Ventilation and A/C) License

Pre-Bid Conference: A mandatory Pre-Bid Conference and mandatory Pre-Bid Job Walk will be conducted BOTH in person AND electronically via Zoom on September 3, 2020 beginning promptly at 1:30 PM. Only bidders who participate in the virtual or in-person Pre-Bid Conference will be permitted to bid on the Project as a prime bidder.

Bid Security: Bid Security in the amount of 10% of the Lump Sum Base Bid shall accompany each Bid. The Surety issuing the Bid Bond shall be, on the Bid Deadline, an admitted surety insurer (as defined in California Code of Civil Procedure Section 995.120).

General Project Information: Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons shall have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University’s policy. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a Bid for this project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)].

The successful Bidder and its Subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Construction Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the Work.
