BACKGROUND & INTRODUCTION: C.W. Driver has been awarded a CM-at-Risk agreement to provide both Phase 1 preconstruction and Phase 2 construction services and will act as the Construction Manager (CM) coordinating the forthcoming construction with the design process and then transition to the role of General Contractor (GC) during construction. Upon the University’s acceptance of the final contract value, the University may exercise an option for construction services with the CM for the construction phase.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The Classroom Building at University of California, Santa Barbara, generally consists of constructing an approximately 93,000 sqft. 4-story steel structure building. The Classroom Building has 32 classrooms, with lecture halls on Levels 1 and 2, and classrooms and meeting spaces on Levels 3 and 4.


PROSPECTIVE SUBCONTRACTORS: C.W. Driver is seeking Bids from trade subcontractors (Bidders) to provide construction services for the Classroom Building Project. This request for bids is intended to result in the selection of the construction trade subcontractors only for the trades listed in this RFB as follows:

1. Bid Package BP-07B-R1 – Waterproofing (C-39)
o Open to all interested trade bidders – No prequalification required
o Engineer’s Estimate: $833,000

2. Bid Package BP-07D-R1 – Decorative Metal Panels (C-23 or C-43)
o Open to all interested trade bidders – No prequalification required
o Engineer’s Estimate: $1,020,000

3. Bid Package BP-09A-R1 – Metal Stud Framing, Rough Carpentry, Insulation, Gypsum Board, Plaster, GFRCP, Wall Protection and Corner Guards
o Open to the following prequalified bidders only – Nevell/Standard Drywall Inc., Raymond, Mirage,
Tarlton & Son, Best Interiors, and Rutherford.
o Engineer’s Estimate: $12,600,000

4. Bid Package BP-11B – Design/Build Window Washing Support and Anchorage System (C-61/D-39)
o Open to all interested trade bidders – No prequalification required
o Design-Build delivery and selection used. Award based on both price and technical factors.
o Maximum Acceptance Cost: $300,000

Each Bidder is to submit pricing for the complete scope of their selected specific subtrade as defined in the bidding documents.
