Description of Work: Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, tools, transportation, insurance, and services, and specified materials to construct two new physics laboratories within Broida Hall (Building 572) and the Physical Science Building South “PSB South” (Building 672) on the University of California, Santa Barbara main campus. The PSB South, Bldg. 672 Scope of Work includes 1,424 sf in high bay room 1749 with a new, 140 sf enclosed equipment room adjacent to the building. The Broida Hall, Bldg. 572 Scope of Work includes 926 sf in room 4340 on level 4 of Broida Hall, new ducting in the utility chase in the core of the building and up through the roof. A new ISO 6 certified softwall clean room will be installed inside room 4340, the existing 136 sf men’s restroom on level 4 will be modified to allow accessible entry and use, as described in the Construction Documents.

Estimated Construction Cost: $1,200,125

Pre-Bid Conference: A mandatory IN PERSON Pre-Bid Conference and Pre-Bid Job Walk will be conducted on April 15, 2021 beginning promptly at 1:30 PM at Broida Hall Building 572 loading dock area. Attendees should use Parking Lot 7 (permit required). COVID-related safety protocols will be followed at the meeting, including masking, distancing, etc. Only bidders who participate in both the Job Walk and Pre-Bid Conference will be allowed to bid on the Project as a prime bidder.

The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a Bid for this project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)].

The successful Bidder and its Subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Construction Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the Work.
