Description of Work: Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, permits, equipment, tools, transportation, insurance and services described in the Construction Documents, including but not limited to the replacement of two (2) air handler units (AHUs) AC-1 and HV-1, and the installation of two (2) VAV boxes to serve the computer room at Harold Frank Hall Building 556, located on the UCSB main campus. The work shall be completed by the successful Contractor in two phases. Phase 1 includes demolition and replacement of AC-1. The existing unit HV-1 will provide temporary air to partially condition the building during construction of AH-1. Phase 2 includes the demolition and replacement of HV-1. The newly installed AHU-1 will provide temporary air to partially condition the building during construction of AH-2.

Estimated Construction Cost: $880,000

Pre-Bid Conference: A mandatory Pre-Bid Conference and mandatory Pre-Bid Job Walk will be conducted BOTH in person AND electronically via Zoom. Only bidders who participate in both the Conference and initial (virtual or in-person) Job Walk, will be allowed to bid on the Project as prime bidders. Only attendees as the original job walk will be permitted to schedule a subsequent site visit with the University Representative.

Bid Security: Bid Security in the amount of 10% of the Lump Sum Base Bid shall accompany each Bid. The Surety issuing the Bid Bond shall be, on the Bid Deadline, an admitted surety insurer (as defined in California Code of Civil Procedure Section 995.120).

No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a Bid for this project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)].

The successful Bidder and its Subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Construction Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the Work.
