Description of Work: Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, tools, transportation, insurance, services and specified materials to construct a 1,015 sq. ft. area that includes: a microscopy lab, open workspace, graduate student office, and break room. Contractor shall provide MEP services and architectural finishes throughout.

Pre-Bid Conference: A mandatory Pre-Bid Conference will be conducted BOTH in person AND electronically via Zoom. The meeting will include a virtual job walk presented by the University staff and can be accessed remotely using the following Zoom link:

A job walk will be conducted after the bid conference and a subsequent, in-person job walk may be scheduled with the University Representative, upon request. Only bidders who participate in the (virtual or in-person) pre-bid conference will be allowed to bid on the Project as a prime bidder. Only attendees of the original job walk will be permitted to schedule a subsequent site visit with the University Representative.
Bid Security: Bid Security in the amount of 10% of the Lump Sum Base Bid shall accompany each Bid. The Surety issuing the Bid Bond shall be, on the Bid Deadline, an admitted surety insurer (as defined in California Code of Civil Procedure Section 995.120). If a bid is submitted electronically then a scan copy of the required bid security is acceptable; however, an original, wet-signed copy of that bid security must be delivered to the University within 3 days of the bid deadline date.

The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a Bid for this project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)]. The successful Bidder and its Subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Construction Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the Work.
