Description of Work: Project scope will include the construction of a new, single-story, 2,950 square foot building of Type V-B construction, with steel columns and beams. Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, permits, equipment, tools, transportation, and insurance to construct the Associated Students Bike Shop on the main UCSB campus, including but not limited to the following:

Structural System: Building structure consists concrete slab-on-grade, primarily of wood framing with structural steel and glue-laminated beams for long spans, hollow steel tubes for curved beams, and plywood shear wall lateral force resisting system. Fire Protection System: Consisting of automatic wet-pipe sprinkler system, with double check valve assembly. HVAC System: Consisting of VFR, heat-recovery, heat-pump system, with outdoor heat-pump connected with refrigerant piping to multiple indoor fan-coil units, and ducted distribution. Plumbing System: Consisting of domestic water distribution, storm drainage, sanitary sewerage/waste/vent, and centralized compressed air systems, and water-conserving low-flow plumbing fixtures. Electrical System: Consisting of 480 volt, 3-phase feed from existing/adjacent Student Affairs /Administrative Services Building, and 75KVA transformer for building power distribution system (panelboards, conduit/wiring, LED lighting fixtures, grounding system), and exterior/general site lighting. Infrastructure for future, rooftop-mounted photovoltaic array.

ONLY PREQUALIFIED GENERAL CONTRACTORS WILL BE ALLOWED TO SUBMIT A PRIME BID ON THIS PROJECT. The following firms have been prequalified to bid on this project:

Mandatory Pre-Bid Conference: A mandatory Pre-Bid Conference and mandatory Pre-Bid Job Walk will be conducted (in person only) on September 23, 2021 beginning promptly at 1:30 PM. Participants shall meet at:

Only bidders who participate in the mandatory pre-bid conference will be permitted to bid on the Project as prime bidders. Only attendees at the original pre-bid conference will be permitted to schedule subsequent site visits with the University Representative.

Bid Security: Bid Security in the amount of 10% of the Lump Sum Base Bid shall accompany each Bid. The Surety issuing the Bid Bond shall be, on the Bid Deadline, an admitted surety insurer (as defined in California Code of Civil Procedure Section 995.120).

General Project Information: Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons shall have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University’s policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a Bid for this project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)]. The successful Bidder and its Subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Construction Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the Work.
