Description of Work: Provide all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, insurance, and services to resurface the UCSB Recreation Center Building (No. 516) competition pool and smaller activity pool. Contractor shall demolish existing competition and activity pool’s plaster surface, and plaster and re-surface the demoed pools. Lane marker tile and target tile to remain in place, protect and sequence demo accordingly, undercut waterline tile also to be protected in place, install new tile to replace any tile that is damaged or removed during the demolition process. The floating bulkhead at the competition pool is to be removed and stored on a contractor-provided protective pool deck surface during the Work. The bulkhead shall be refurbished of all rusted components and reinstalled in the competition pool. After re-surface is complete, contractor will fill and balance chemicals in the pools, brush surface of new plaster for 5 days, as well as clean up and demobilize, as described in the Construction Documents.

Estimated Construction Cost: $775,000.00

Pre-Bid Conference: A mandatory Pre-Bid Conference and mandatory Pre-Bid Job Walk will be conducted in person on January 19, 2023 beginning promptly at 1:30 PM. Participants shall meet at:

Only bidders who participate in the initial pre-bid conference, will be allowed to bid on the Project as a prime bidder. Only attendees as the original pre-bid conference will be permitted to schedule a subsequent site visit with the University Representative.

Bid Security: Bid Security in the amount of 10% of the Lump Sum Base Bid shall accompany each Bid. The Surety issuing the Bid Bond shall be, on the Bid Deadline, an admitted surety insurer (as defined in California Code of Civil Procedure Section 995.120).

General Project Information: The successful Bidder and its Subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the Work. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons shall have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University’s policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a Bid for this project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)]. The successful Bidder and its Subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Construction Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the Work.
