Description of Work: Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, insurance, and services to install ceiling-mounted fans, junction boxes, transformers, and wall-mounted remotes in naturally ventilated offices in the University of California, Santa Barbara’s Student Resource Building (“SRB”), Building No. 221, located on the University’s main campus. Trade work includes electrical, as described in the Construction Documents. Contractor shall verify that all fans can be mounted without impact to existing sprinklers. SRB will be occupied during construction. Prior to initiating any work, contractor shall coordinate and provide a detailed project schedule to University Representative. All furniture, equipment, and belongings remaining within the work area shall be covered/protected, and if clearing is necessary the University Representative should be notified in advance of any work.

Pre-Bid Conference: A mandatory Pre-Bid Conference and mandatory Pre-Bid Job Walk will be conducted BOTH in person AND electronically via Zoom on February 14, 2023 at 1:30PM. Remote participants may attend the mandatory pre-bid conference via Zoom by using the following link:

Only bidders who participate in the initial (virtual or in-person) pre-bid conference, will be allowed to bid on the Project as a prime bidder. Only attendees as the original pre-bid conference will be permitted to schedule a subsequent site visit with the University Representative.

Bid Security: Bid Security in the amount of 10% of the Lump Sum Base Bid shall accompany each Bid. The Surety issuing the Bid Bond shall be, on the Bid Deadline, an admitted surety insurer (as defined in California Code of Civil Procedure Section 995.120).

General Project Information: The successful Bidder and its Subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the Work. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons shall have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University’s policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a Bid for this project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)]. The successful Bidder and its Subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Construction Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the Work.
