Description of Work: Provide all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, insurance, and services to perform a roof replacement at the University Center 1 Building 558, located on the UCSB main campus, including, but not limited to, the following: Contractor shall disconnect, remove and store or dispose of existing mechanical equipment including air handling units, refrigeration units, and exhaust fans, as indicated in the Construction Documents. Disconnects shall be performed on water supply, gas, condensation lines, electrical supply, and ductwork, and Contractor shall demo, remove and dispose of existing roofing and associated insulation at all roofs, install temporary protections required during construction, perform existing concrete slab penetrations for new overflow rain drain including, but not limited to, area of work protection, coring, saw cutting, demo and removal and disposal of concrete slab, and reinforcement, patch and repair existing roofing and insulation at all roof-mounted HVAC equipment penetrations, provide and install new backer rod and joint sealant at concrete panel joints, and install new 80 mil minimum, thermoplastic membrane with fabric or fiberglass reinforcement over board and tapered insulation, as indicated in the Construction Documents.  

Contractor shall also provide and install new flashing 60 mill membrane with fabric or fiberglass reinforcement at all wall parapet or curb, provide and install new continuous cleat coping at wall parapets, install existing or new HVAC equipment including, but not limited to: roof packaged units, mini-split units consisting of indoor fan coils and outdoor heat pumps, air conditioner systems, exhaust fans, as indicated in the Construction Documents.

Estimated Construction Cost: $986,000

Only bidders who participate in the initial (virtual or in-person) pre-bid conference, will be allowed to bid on the Project as a prime bidder. Only attendees as the original pre-bid conference will be permitted to schedule a subsequent site visit with the University Representative.

Bid Security: Bid Security in the amount of 10% of the Lump Sum Base Bid shall accompany each Bid.  The Surety issuing the Bid Bond shall be, on the Bid Deadline, an admitted surety insurer (as defined in California Code of Civil Procedure Section 995.120).

General Project Information: The successful Bidder and its Subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the Work.  Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons shall have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University's policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy.  The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code.  No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a Bid for this project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)].
