Project Summary: UCSB requests a written response to this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) from qualified and experienced individuals or firms that are interested in providing design services for the University Library Chiller Plant Replacement, Engineering II & PSB South AHU Replacement Project (hereinafter referred to as the “Project”), as described in RFQ No. FM240147. Statements of Qualifications are requested from design professionals and firms with relevant experience and expertise.  A separate professional services agreement (for Stage 1 pre-design services) and, if awarded, executive design professional agreement (for Stage 2 design services) will be written with the selected design professional for each of the following scope(s) of services:

The ‘Library Chiller Project’ (Project ‘A’) will replace the existing Trane 1,000-ton chiller with two new 600-ton chillers, and replace the existing associated cooling tower and condenser water pumps.

The ‘Engineering II Project’ (Project ‘B’) scope includes the replacement of seven existing air handlers. The air handlers are heating and ventilation only, and are located in the penthouse mechanical room. The inlet air filter racks are heavily corroded, and repair and replacement will be included in the scope of work.

The ‘Physical Sciences South Project’ (Project ‘C’) will replace four of five existing Roof Top Mechanical Units with new Heat Pump Packaged Units. The existing HHW lines on the roof will be kept for the fifth, which serves a lab that requires a very low relative humidity, and a specialized dehumidifying air handling unit. Additionally, the scope includes the installation of a new split system air conditioner to serve the first-floor electrical room. A new associated condensing unit will also be installed on the roof.

Estimated Construction Cost(s): The overall construction budget for each project is as follows:

Library Chiller Project                           $2,724,000

Engineering II Project                           $1,905,000

Physical Sciences South Project           $1,493,000

Upon receipt of firm SOQs, a shortlist of firms will be determined by a University screening committee, and final consultant evaluations and selection recommendations developed by a University selection committee.

Equal Opportunity Statement: Each candidate firm will be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons shall have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University, regardless of: race; color; religion; sex; age; ancestry; national origin; sexual orientation; physical or mental disability; veteran's status; medical condition; genetic information; marital status; gender identity; pregnancy; service in the uniformed services; or citizenship within the limits imposed by law or University's policy.
