Description of Work: The project includes Rooms 3201, 3515, 3515A, 3517, 3630, 3631, which will become two research lab suites and minor clean-up and shelling of the old vivarium space. Suite 3201 and Suite C projects will include new partitions, doors, storefront, two skylights, finishes, mill work, HVAC modification, lights and electrical work and new sinks. Future Lab Suite A, B, and 3631 work includes new partitions, doors and HVAC modifications. 745 ASF for 3515, 710 ASF for 3201.

Estimated Construction Cost:  $700,000

Pre-Bid Conference:  A mandatory Pre-Bid Conference Job Walk will be conducted in person.

Only bidders who participate in the in-person pre-bid conference, will be allowed to bid on the Project as a prime bidder. Only attendees at the original pre-bid conference will be permitted to schedule a subsequent site visit with the University Representative.

Bid Security: Bid Security in the amount of 10% of the Lump Sum Base Bid shall accompany each Bid.  The Surety issuing the Bid Bond shall be, on the Bid Deadline, an admitted surety insurer (as defined in California Code of Civil Procedure Section 995.120).

General Project Information:  The successful Bidder and its Subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Construction Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the Work.  Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons shall have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University's policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code.  No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a Bid for this project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations (“DIR”) pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)].
