Description of Work: Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, insurance, and services to construct a Tenant Improvement on the UCSB main campus encompassing 2,775 square feet within the 3rd floor of the Student Resources Building 221 (“SRB”), and improvements to the accessible path of travel to the facility from the adjacent parking garage, as more fully described in the Construction Documents. The project will renovate approximately 1,275 square feet on the third floor of the SRB to improve staff and student circulation space and security with an additional 1,500 square feet of flooring will be replaced.  The work will include the reconfiguration of three areas of open office to closed offices; new flooring and finishes as needed within the project area; four new storefronts with doors controlled by electronic an access control system, improved accessibility to facility from parking garage to entry with new detectable warning at bike lane, and reinstallation of bathroom accessories at accessible heights.

Only bidders who participate in the initial pre-bid conference, will be allowed to bid on the Project as a prime bidder. Only attendees as the original pre-bid conference will be permitted to schedule a subsequent site visit with the University Representative. In person attendees are advised that there may be traffic congestion and parking may be difficult.  Bidders should allow ample time to drive to the above location in heavy traffic, find a parking space, walk to the building, and arrive in the designated meeting room prior to the required time.  Any prospective Bidder arriving after the above designated starting time may be disqualified from submitting a bid for this project.

Bid Security: Bid Security in the amount of 10% of the Lump Sum Base Bid shall accompany each Bid.  The Surety issuing the Bid Bond shall be, on the Bid Deadline, an admitted surety insurer (as defined in California Code of Civil Procedure Section 995.120).

General Project Information: The successful Bidder and its Subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the Work. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons shall have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University's policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code.  No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a Bid for this project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)].  The successful Bidder and its Subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Construction Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the Work.
