Description of Work: Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, insurance, and services to construct the bike path adjacent to UCSB North Hall, which needs repaving to rehabilitate its existing condition as a result of a high volume of usage from bike, pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Additional damage from tree roots is evident. The project includes designated areas for bikers to dismount safely from their bikes, wider pathways for safety during high peak hours as well as an expanded bike parking area. This project will expand the number of parking spaces from 286 to a total of 310, which will be located on western side of the bike path.

Estimated Construction Cost: $581,020

License Requirement(s): A- (General Engineering Contractor) or B- (General Building Contractor) 

Pre-Bid Conference:  A mandatory IN-PERSON Pre-Bid Conference and Pre-Bid Job Walk will be conducted. Only prospective bidders who participate in the initial pre-bid conference, will be allowed to bid on the Project as a prime bidder. Only attendees at the original pre-bid conference will be permitted to schedule a subsequent site visit with the University Representative.

Bid Security: Bid Security in the amount of 10% of the Lump Sum Base Bid shall accompany each Bid.  The Surety issuing the Bid Bond shall be, on the Bid Deadline, an admitted surety insurer (as defined in California Code of Civil Procedure Section 995.120).

General Project Information: The successful Bidder and its Subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the Work. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons shall have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University's policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code.  No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a Bid for this project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)].
