Introduction: Sedgwick Reserve is a world-class research, conservation and education facility located in Santa Barbara County’s Santa Ynez Valley. One of seven reserves managed by the University of California Santa Barbara Natural Reserve System.
Description of Work: Provide all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, insurance, and logistical services to address fire damage repairs to the Sedgwick Reserve site resulting from the 2024 Lake Fire. The scope of work includes clearing, re-grading, repair and reconstruction of existing gravel roads; repair and re-construction of existing road drainage structures; removal and replacement of damaged wire fencing; and removal and replacement of damaged water piping and related appurtenances, as described in the Construction Documents.

Pre-Bid Conference: A mandatory IN-PERSON Pre-Bid Conference and Job Walk will be hosted by University staff at the Sedgwick Reserve on October 30, 2025 beginning promptly at 11:00AM. Attendees will meet at the University’s Sedgwick Reserve property (see map attached to Advertisement for directions) in front of the Tipton House. Participants shall meet at:

Only bidders who participate in the initial pre-bid conference, will be allowed to bid on the Project as a prime bidder. Bidders should allow ample time to drive to the above location in heavy traffic, find a parking space, walk to the building, and arrive in the designated meeting room prior to the required time. Any prospective Bidder arriving after the above designated starting time may be disqualified from submitting a bid for this project.
Bid Security: Bid Security in the amount of 10% of the Lump Sum Base Bid shall accompany each Bid. The Surety issuing the Bid Bond shall be, on the Bid Deadline, an admitted surety insurer (as defined in California Code of Civil Procedure Section 995.120).
General Project Information: The successful Bidder and its Subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the Work. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons shall have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University's policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a Bid for this project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)].
